Refund Policy
At Unlimited Fragrances (Pty) Ltd, we are committed to fair and transparent return practices. This policy is governed by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act), and complies with Google Merchant Center requirements. Your statutory rights under South African law are fully protected.
Effective Date: 26 March 20261. Cooling-Off Period (ECT Act, Section 44)
As an online retailer, all purchases made through our website are governed by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. In terms of Section 44 of the ECT Act, you are entitled to cancel your order and return the goods within 7 (seven) days of receiving them, without providing a reason and without penalty.
Your Right: You may return any product within 7 days of delivery for a full refund, provided the product is unused, unopened, and in its original sealed packaging. The direct cost of return shipping is payable by you, the customer.
The following conditions apply to cooling-off returns:
- The product must be unused, unopened, and still sealed in its original packaging
- The product must be returned in the same condition as received, with all included accessories, documentation, and packaging
- The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer
- A refund will be processed within 15 business days of receiving the returned item
Fragrance-Specific Note: Due to the personal care nature of fragrances, products that have been opened, sprayed, used, or had their seal broken cannot be accepted for a change-of-mind return. This is in accordance with hygiene and public health considerations as referenced in the CPA. Opened fragrances may only be returned if they are defective (see Section 2 below).
2. Defective Goods (CPA, Section 56)
All goods sold by Unlimited Fragrances carry an implied warranty of quality as required by Section 56 (read with Section 55) of the Consumer Protection Act. If a product is found to be defective, not of good quality, or not suitable for its intended purpose, you may return it within 6 (six) months of delivery.
In the case of defective goods, you have the right to choose one of the following remedies:
- Full Refund — to the original payment method used at checkout
- Replacement — of the defective product with the same or a comparable item
- Repair — of the product, where applicable
The choice of remedy lies with you, the consumer. Defective goods may be returned at Unlimited Fragrances' cost, and no restocking fees or penalties will apply.
A product is considered defective if it:
- Is not reasonably suitable for the purpose it is generally intended for
- Is not of good quality, free of defects, and in good working order
- Does not comply with the product description provided at the time of purchase
- Has a faulty spray mechanism, is leaking, or the bottle is damaged on arrival
3. Incorrect or Damaged Orders
If you receive an incorrect item (wrong product, wrong variant, or wrong quantity) or your order arrives damaged during transit, please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will arrange for a replacement or full refund at no additional cost to you.
When reporting damaged or incorrect orders, please provide:
- Your order number
- A clear photograph of the product received and the packaging
- A description of the issue
4. Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned for a change-of-mind refund:
- Fragrances that have been opened, sprayed, or had their seal broken (for hygiene reasons)
- Products that have been partially or entirely disassembled, altered, or combined with other products
- Products returned without original packaging or in a condition materially different from how they were received
Please note that these exclusions do not affect your statutory rights regarding defective goods under Section 56 of the CPA. Defective items remain returnable regardless of whether they have been opened.
5. How to Initiate a Return

6. Refund Method and Timeframe
- Refund Method: All refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout (credit card, debit card, EFT, or other method via PayFast). We do not issue cash refunds.
- Processing Time: Refunds are processed within 15 business days of receiving the returned goods. Please allow an additional 5–10 business days for the refund to reflect in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider.
- Partial Refunds: If a product is returned in a condition that does not meet our return requirements (e.g., missing packaging, signs of use), we reserve the right to offer a partial refund or decline the return.
7. Return Shipping Costs
Cooling-off / Change-of-mind returns: The customer is responsible for the direct cost of return shipping.
Defective, damaged, or incorrect orders: Unlimited Fragrances will cover the cost of return shipping. We will arrange collection or provide a prepaid return label.
8. Cancellations
If you wish to cancel an order before it has been dispatched, please contact us as soon as possible at online@unlimitedfragrances.co.za. If the order has not yet been handed over to our courier, we will cancel it and issue a full refund within 15 business days. Once an order has been dispatched, the cooling-off period (Section 1 above) applies upon delivery.
